Asante Kotoko legend Eric Bekoe has revealed a unique perspective on the relationship between players and the club, stating that players are not merely playing for Asante Kotoko but rather worshiping the renowned football institution.

Bekoe, who emerged as the top scorer of the 2007/08 Ghana Premier League season, shared this insight during an interview with Joy Sports.

According to the former goal-scoring sensation, the expectations placed upon players by Asante Kotoko fans go beyond the traditional notion of playing the game.

Instead, players are expected to embrace a profound devotion and reverence towards the club, encapsulated in the act of worship.

"When I first came to Kotoko, I approached Opoku Afriyie and asked him, 'how do we play at Asante Kotoko?' He said, 'hey, we don't play for Kotoko; we worship it. We write our name boldly in capital letters in Krobea, and then you leave it,'" Bekoe disclosed, recounting his conversation with the legendary Afriyie.
