World Cup 2022: We have no regrets - Morocco defender Romain Saiss

Morocco skipper Romain Saiss says he and his teammates are disappointed not to reach the World Cup finals but are proud of their achievement.

The Atlas Lios became the first African side to reach the semi-finals of the global showpiece after beating Portugal 1-0 in the quarter-finals.

However, their run ended with a 2-0 defeat to the holders on Wednesday

"We are disappointed with the result. We wanted to win, but that did not happen. Thank God, we are proud of what we have done," Saiss said.

"We have a match and a significant third place left. We have no regrets. We played incomplete due to injuries, and we reached this level and made great achievements and the best could have been, but we will look for a third place.

He added, "We have high skills, good players who play in the best clubs and leagues, and players who had distinguished mentalities.

"We have to take advantage of that in the future. There will be other continental and international competitions, and we have to search for titles."

Morocco will face Croatia in Saturday's third-placed playoff at the Khalifa International Stadium.
