Dutch defender of Ghanaian descent, Jeremie Frimpong was in action for Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday night when the team drew 2-2 with AS Roma to reach the finals of the Europa League.

The youngster has played key roles for the German side since the start of the football season.

Today, he started in defense when Leverkusen hosted AS Roma in the second-leg fixture of their semi-final contest.

In a game played at Bay Arena, AS Roma scored first when Leandro Parades converted a penalty in the 43rd minute.

Later in the 66th minute, the player scored again from 12 yards to double the lead for the Italians and draw level with Bayer Leverkusen on aggregate.

With a never-say-die attitude, Jeremie Frimpong and his Bayer Leverkusen teammates came from behind to force the match to end in a 2-2 draw.

An own goal by Gianluca Mancini in the 82nd minute plus an injury-time equalizer by substitute Josip Stanisic did the trick for the Germans.

With a 4-2 aggregate win, Leverkusen will play in the final of this season’s Europa League.

The team is unbeaten in 49 games in all competitions and on course to winning a treble.
